Laois Offaly Feile Peil na nÓg 2012
The past week has been a very busy one for the organising committee of Laois/Offaly Feile Peil na nÓg however it was also a very enjoyable one.
The week commenced with schools visits in Laois on Monday & Tuesday while the attention switched to Offaly schools on Wednesday and Thursday. In total 94 schools were visited by officials from the organising committee who were accompanied by current County Senior players, club officials and Presidents of the GAA and Ladies Gaelic Football Association.
Offaly GAA wish to thank all the players, Offaly GAA officials and club officials who gave there time to travel around the schools to promote the Feile. We would also like to thank Bus Eireann who as sponsors of Feile presented a training kit bag containing bibs, cones and footballs to each school visited.
A large number of photos were taken around the schools and these can be seen on our new slideshow gallery on www.offaly.gaa.ie.
On Thursday evening all Laois and Offaly clubs travelled to Portlaoise for the official launch of Feile Peil na nÓg 2012 at the Heritage Hotel. Each club respresented by 4 of their U14 team and club officials posed for photographs with the county players. Following the speeches and official launch by GAA President Liam O'Neill, the players got their opportunity to ask questions to the players and officials. What followed was a lively debate with many interesting questions such as "Will the GAA introduce video technology to help referees make decisions?" and "Can the GAA afford to pay its players as professionals?"
Offaly GAA would ask any club or school that has photographs of the school visits or launch night to email them to
[email protected] so that they can be added to our photo gallery.
