Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin
Henry Shefflin could make his long-awaited return to the Kilkenny colours in a SH challenge against Offaly on Sunday evening.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner hasn't featured for the Cats since last September's All-Ireland final after undergoing shoulder surgery in November, but made his return to competitive action when he played the last 17 minutes of his club Ballyhale's senior league win over local rivals Dunnamaggin last Saturday night.

Shefflin will continue his comeback when Ballyhale face St. Martin's tomorrow night and if he comes through that unscathed, he is expected to travel with the Kilkenny squad to Clara in Co. Offaly for Sunday's challenge match which throws-in at 6.30pm.

The game will form the centrepiece of what promises to be a wonderful occasion for a club that holds the distinction of being the oldest in Leinster. The new ground on the Kilbeggan Road comprises two full-sized pitches, a training pitch, three smaller pitches and a hurling wall.

New GAA president Liam O'Neill will perform the official opening of Pairc Prionsias at 6pm, which will be followed by the meeting of the All-Ireland champions and Offaly.
