DIVISION 3 HURLING LEAGUE
Raheen Hurlers were desperately unlucky not to at least salvage a draw with a late recovery against Brosna Gaels in their Div 3 League meeting last Monday week in Geashill as Brosna Gaels claimed the win by just the minimum on a scoreline of 3-09 to 4-07. The damage was done in the first half as Raheen conceded 3 soft goals along with 6 points but tried to keep in touch by putting over 5 points. Brosna Gaels extended their lead further by scoring 1-01 without reply inside the first 10 mins of the second half and it appeared that the game was over as a contest at this stage. But Raheen showed their battling spirit by staging a recovery, first by sending over 3 points in a row over the next 10 mins, then in just over the last 5 mins Raheen created the chances which enabled them to get through to score 3 goals in row from Eamon Direen (2) and Ciaran Direen to bring it back to a single point game but unfortunately time ran out before they could get the equaliser.
RAHEEN: Ian O'Halloran, Brian Corcoran, Eoghan Bolton, Fionan Direen, Dean Pierce, Paddy Arnold, Martin Mahon, Paddy Rigney (0-04), Ciaran Direen (1-03), Keith Quinn (0-01), Sean Martin Pierce, Liam Gorman, Aaron Pierce, Eanan Direen, Eamon Direen (2-01).
SUB: Willie Stynes (for Sean Martin Pierce).

U16 FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Na Fiannia U16 Footballers suffered another defeat in the League, this time by just a point by Shamrocks in Geashill last Monday week on a scoreline of 2-07 to 2-06. Shamrocks made the better start to the game opening up an early lead of 1-03 to 0-02 inside the first 15 mins. Na Fianna struck for their first goal in the 19th min when Kevin Kinahan's shot from about 30m out dipped in over the head of the keeper to the net. Shamrocks hit back with 2 points before Na Fianna registered their second goal in the last min of the half when Mark Garry made a solo run all the way in from the wing out near the 45m line before burying the ball in the net and so at the break the sides were level 2-02 to 1-05. A 4 point haul from Dylan Hyland for na Fianna by the 25th min of the second half with Shamrocks replying with just a single point had opened up a 3 point lead for Na Fianna and on course to claim the win. Then with just 5 mins remaining Shamrocks broke down the field and got through to score their second goal to draw level and moments later sent over the winning point. Na Fianna did try but unfortunately could not find an equalising score and so Shamrocks held on for the win.
