Offaly GAA held our open night last night for media and public to come and meet the players and managers of our county teams. In a good atmosphere, Offaly hurling manager Ollie Baker welcomed the local media and give full interviews to them in the build up to Offaly's Leinster Championship opener with Wexford on June 2nd at O Connor Park. Ollie will also invite clubs and media into a training night closer to the game to give the young kids a chance to meet and see the county players train and prepare. Ollie is looking forward to the game and hopes that this weekends championship games go well and that all players come through it fresh and ready to focus on the Wexford challenge. Offaly football Manager Tom Coffey also indicated his welcome for all the local media and thanked everybody for the support he has received since taking the position 3 weeks ago. Tom and his backroom team have been working hard with the players over the last few weeks and have a challenge game with Laois tonight to mark the official opening of the new development at Mountmellick. Tom was joined by his backroom team Pat Lowry and Phil Reilly and players, Alan Mulhall, Richie Dalton, Kevin Meehan ad Ross Brady. Offaly play Kildare in O Moore Park on Sunday June 17th which is a difficult challenge after the lily whites recently captured the Allianz Division 2 League title but no doubt the faithful will relish the challenge as it is also a local derby. Offaly County Board Chairman Pat Teehan thanked everybody for attending the night and reiterated the message of supporting both Offaly teams in the new message 'Nothing beats being there'
