Leinster Minor Hurling Championship

Offaly 2-13 Meath 1-14
Offaly had to withstand a late Meath rally before running out two=-
point winners in a lacklustre Minor hurling championship. Cillian
Kiely's 3rd minute goal gave Offaly a solid start but Meath settled
after that and Offaly went on to hold a 1-8 to 0-9 half-time lead.

A scrambled goal involving Keith Bergin and Kevin Dunne put Offaly
into a 2-12 to 0-12 lead with nine minutes left, but Meath sub Dylan
Keenan pounced on a loose ball to find the net in stoppage time. Meath
might have had another goal when Josh Wall flicked wide, but Offaly
held on to advance to the Quarter-final.

Meath's Jack Regan was top scorer, firing 0-10 (0-8 frees). For
Offaly, Cillian Kiely hit 1-3, Dylan Murray 0-5, while Emmet Nolan, Ger
Crowe, Alan Spain, Keith Bergin, and Séamus O'Connor each hit a point,
while Keith Bergin and Kevin Dunne will each claim the second goal.

Offaly's opponents in next weekend's quarter-final will be Laois,

Aidan Bracken Building Design Under 21 Hurling Championship Final
St Rynaghs Óg are champions

U21 hurling final St Rynagh's 2-16 St Brendans 1-12

St Rynaghs were crowned Under 21 Hurling champions on Sunday evening with victory over St Brendans in Birr in what was an exceiting and entertaining final. St Rynaghs Óg got off to the perfect start and were 1-5 to 0-0 up after 10 minutes which left St Brendans with too big of a gap to draw back. Stephen Quike with 1-3 and Joseph O Connor and Damien Egan gave the visitors that perfect start. To St Brendans credit they did not give up and battled back to trail by 3 points in first half injury time with a goal from William Gleeson and points from Tomas Bolger, Kevin Donovan and Sean T O Connor, but St Rynaghs Óg found the net again on the stroke of half time through centre forward Damien Egan. It was a tough battle in the secondhalf with the home side refusing to give up but St Rynaghs Óg take the PJ Teehan Cup back to Banagher for the first time since 2005. Captain Daniel Maloney accepted the cup from County Board Chairman Pat Teehan. Offaly GAA congratulate St Rynaghs Óg on picking up the first trophy of the year in club championships.
