Walsh Shield final: Bergin haul helps Offaly retain title aet

Offaly claimed their second successive Walsh Shield with a 0-22 to 1-14 victory over DIT at Tullamore on Sunday.
Faithful full forward Joe Bergin outscored his previous tally of 1-8 against Wexford to help his side to a five point victory. The Kieran's man finished with 0-16 to his name this time round.
The students held the advantage at the interval as they led by the minimum - 1-6 to 0-8. Kilkenny's Padraig Phelan grabbed the games only goal for the visitors on 13 minutes.
The second half proved to be 50:50 the whole way to the final whistle. DIT led by a single point - 1-12 to 0-14 before Bergin stepped up with a free to force extra-time.
Ollie Baker's Offaly produced a fine display of hurling in extra time outscoring DIT 0-7 to 0-2.
