Baker not happy

New Offaly hurling manager Ollie Baker was disappointed with his team's performance in last Sunday's Walsh Cup defeat to neighbours Westmeath.

The Faithful County lost by seven points in Kinnegad and Baker admitted afterwards: "There is no doubt that Westmeath were deserving winners on the day. We will have to go back and assess our own play but we were not good enough today.

"I wouldn't be happy with the result or the performance but we are happy that they are a bunch of players that have been around the block and that we just have to put our own stamp on things. It's frustrating on a day like today because training had been going well".

The former Clare midfielder felt the sending offs of Offaly pair Shane Kelly and Ger Healion, and Westmeath's Aonghus Clarke were all harsh.

"In fairness, both sets of players were up for the match and there was a good competitive nature to the game but I don't think there was a dirty stroke pulled in the whole game and still there was three lads put off. At the end of the day it is the referee's decision".
