Kilcormac lodge objection

October 09, 2010
Kilcormac/Killoughey are objecting to the result of last Sunday's Offaly SHC semi-final against Tullamore.

Johnny Pilkington's charges lost to the holders by 0-10 to 0-13 in a controversial encounter which saw three players - two from Kilcormac/Killoughey - sent off. But the double Ks are up in arms at the dismissal of Ciaran Slevin who they claim was sent off in error by referee Declan Cooke.

Acting on the advice of a linesman, Cooke initially sent off substitute Eamon Lee for a challenge on Tullamore's Shane Kelly, but then changed his mind before Lee had left the field and showed a yellow card to Slevin instead.

As Slevin had already been booked, he was then shown a red card and reacted angrily, with members of the Kilcormac management team having to restrain him.

Kilcormac's objection will be dealt with by the Offaly CCC and has the potential to stop the final between Tullamore and Coolderry from going ahead next Sunday. However, all the indications are that it will be thrown out.
