August 26, 2010
JFC V Gracefield. Monday 23/08/2010.
Killeigh 1-9: Gracefield 2-3.
Killeigh progressed to the quarter finals, after this hard fought away game . Killeigh had an uncertain start, kicking 5 wides before James Condron's point, and they improved as the half went on, leading 0-5 to 0-2 at half time. Darragh O'Brien with 3 points, and brother Gus with 1 point, closed out the scoring.
The early second half saw missed chances for both sides, each adding a point, but Killeigh suffered a blow when Gracefield scored a goal, and added a point to take the lead. Darragh O'Brien scored a point, tying the game. The turning point came when Enda Gorman who replaced Eddie Kinahan, was pulled down for a penalty, converted by No 14, Darragh O'Brien. This score put Killeigh back on top, and added points from Enda Gorman, and Darragh O'Brien, to a point Gracefield.
Killeigh looked to have done enough leading 1-9 to 1-3, but there was an anxious last few minutes after the home side broke through for a goal, reducing the deficit to 3 points at the end.
