Ferbane club notes

August 25, 2010
SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
The senior footballers face their most important test of the season on Saturday evening when they take on Gracefield at 6pm in Tullamore. Two successive defeats mean that a win against the Blackthorns is vital if the club is to have any chance of reaching a quarter final and staving off a relegation dogfight in the process. A favour from either Clara or Tullamore will also be required since wins for St Brigids and Shamrocks would render this tie meaningless. Neither Ferbane nor Gracefield have been playing to their potential this year but it is hoped that the importance of this fixture will bring out the best in the team. All supporters are urged to make their way to O'Connor Park for a game of vital importance.

JUNIOR A CHAMPIONSHIP
The Junior A championship campaign came to an end last week despite a good win over Clonmore Harps in the final group game. Two wins from five games wasn't enough to secure a place in the top four and scoring difference also played a part in what was a disappointing campaign. However this was one of the youngest teams to play junior A football for a long time and several players proved that they have a great future ahead of them by competing very well with players who had a lot more experience on board. The club would like to thank manager George Digan and his management team of John Keena, John Kelly and Thady Clancy who did great work with this new look panel, moulding them into a very competitive unit.

BEST OF LUCK

Best of luck to Ferbane/Belmont under 12 footballers who play St Broughans in the championship semi final on Saturday morning at 11am in Durrow. The under 14's had a great win over Clara last weekend and with the under 16's also in the county final, this year has the potential to be a very successful one for the minor club. All supporters are encouraged to make their way over to Durrow to cheer on the team in what should be a very close game.
