Ferbane club notes

July 29, 2010
SENIOR LEAGUE
The senior footballers ended their league campaign in a very disappointing fashion against Erin Rovers last Sunday when they lost the relegation playoff on a scoreline of 1-17 to 2-7. Playing up the Rahan hill and into the wind in the first half, Ferbane struggled to get to grips with the game in the early stages and the greater hunger and drive of the Erin Rovers players came to the fore. An Alan Lynam goal and a good performance from Tom Spain were the main influences behind a half time deficit of 1-6 to 0-2.

Ferbane did start the second half in a much better fashion and a punched goal from substitute Ciarán Kenny brought the match back into the balance, but seven points in succession for the Pullough men ended the game as a contest. Aaron McDonagh rounded off an excellent individual display with a late goal but it was a small silver lining on an otherwise disappointing evening for Ferbane football.

The team that played was:
Declan Nugent; Conor Lowry, Eddie Lowry, Ronan Egan; John Mollen, Gary Rigney, Joe Butler; Colm Gavin (0-1), David Lowry; Shane Nally (0-1), Declan Killian, Paddy Dooley; Willie Farrell, Paddy Moore, Aaron McDonagh (1-2).

Subs: Ciarán Kenny (1-0), Liam Browne, Ronan Daly (0-3), Ciarán McManus, James Grennan.

JUNIOR A CHALLENGE
The Junior A footballers continue their preparation for the championship with a challenge match against Durrow in Ferbane on Saturday evening. All players are asked to be at the dressing room for 6pm.

BEST OF LUCK
Best wishes to Conor Lowry, Aaron McDonagh and selector Paul Mollen who are all part of the Offaly minor panel as they take on Mayo in the All-Ireland quarter final this Saturday in Dr. Hyde Park.
