Shamrocks Notes
February 09, 2010
Lotto:
The draw was held on Monday night and the numbers drawn were 6, 7, 25 and 29. There were no match three winners so next week's match three winners will win or share €400. Next week's jackpot will be for €3 400 and the draw will be held in Kelly's Roadhouse.
Committee meeting:
There will be a committee meeting on tonight (Wednesday) night at 8.00pm in Rahan clubhouse and all members are requested to attend.
Under 21 Football:
The under 21 footballers got the championship campaign off to a winning start on Saturday last in Rahan when they defeated Wheery, the amalgamated Ferbane and Birr team, on a score line of 2-11 to 1-8. Shamrocks got the worst possible start when they went behind to a fortuitous goal from a long free which somehow managed to end up in the net. However some excellent team football resulted in Shamrocks getting a goal of their own through Ciaran Buckley who fisted a high ball to the net. Shamrocks led by 3 points at half time. Shamrocks second goal came late in the second half from Jeffrey Moran following some good passing and a very neat pick up. Great credit must go to the team and management after this good display and they will now play the Rhode parish team in the semi final.
Team: N Darcy, R Bryant, P Kelly, L Mollen, S Delaney, K Mollen, K Grennan, M Conroy, P Minnock, N Dunne, J Moran, S Heffernan, C Buckley, P Keyes, P Walsh
Subs used: M Byrne, L Og Kenny, B Kelly
A speedy recovery is wished to Daniel Heffernan who picked up a knee injury and could not play on Saturday, and to Karl Mollen who sustained a serious injury at the end of the game last Saturday.
Referees Course:
The club need a referee or two or three!!! If you are genuinely interested will you please contact any committee member as soon as possible. This is an important job and no doubt one that would give great satisfaction to the right person. There is a training course coming up soon which will be run by the county board. We are one of the only clubs without a referee.
Table Quiz:
There will be a fundraising table quiz on Wednesday February 24th in Killina School in aid of games development. It is hoped that as many teams as possible will take part. All support would be greatly appreciated. Anyone interested in entering a team can contact Kevin Cummins or indeed any committee member via the club phone.
Minor Club Presentation:
The Minor club presentation night will take place on Friday February 12th at 8.00pm in Rahan dressing rooms. All are welcome to attend.
Kits for Kids promotion:
The Irish daily mail Kits for Kids promotion is now over. The club have reached their targets and are delighted with the response from people all over the parish especially all those who would not normally buy that particular paper. The club can now claim a new set of underage jerseys. Many thanks for all the support.
Training Resumes:
All players are asked to attend training on the appointed nights and hopefully right all the wrongs of previous seasons.
Hurling Helmets:
All players and intending players should note that under new guidelines and regulations it is compulsory for all players to have a full face guard helmet at all levels during training as well as matches in the future. Eamonn Buckley has a limited supply of helmets in stock.
Membership:
Membership is now due and should be paid as soon as possible to registrar Brian Kearney or any committee member. Players must be fully paid up before training resumes in the coming weeks. The following are the rates as passes at the AGM: Senior players €150, students €25 and non playing members €30.
For those senior players who pay €150, they will be entered into the weekly lotto at no extra cost. New members are welcome.
