U21 final repeat

June 19, 2009
Sunday's 2009 Offaly U21 hurling championship final is a repeat of the '08 decider between Seir Kieran and Kilcormac/Killoughey. Seir Kieran took the title for the first time in their history last year with a dramatic 1-11 to 0-13 win at Kinnity and they'll be determined to hold onto the crown at Banagher on Sunday evening (7.00). The holders beat St Brendan's at the quarter-final stage and St Rynagh's in their semi-final. Meanwhile, the Gaels saw off St Mary's and St Saran's in their quarter-final and semi-final ties respectively. Both teams have been inactive for the best part of ten weeks now but - with seven starters for Offaly last weekend between them - these are the county's two outstanding teams at this level and a cracking final is in prospect.
