Fixtures
With the All Ireland senior hurling championship final taking centre stage at national level this weekend it is a fairly limited programme of fixtures in Monaghan were top billing goes to the senior football Championship replay between Latton and Clontibret.

Castleblayney on way back
On a championship weekend where the holders, Clontibret, were held to a draw in a disappointing affair in Castleblayney the Faughs served notice that they are ready to challenge for championship honours with probably the most impressive performance of the entire weekend’s programme.

Leagues
Last weekend also saw a round of matches in the Harte Peat intermediate football league and two matches in the junior football league.

Blayney back in the hunt for honours
Castleblayney are back in the hunt for championship honours following this commanding display against Scotstown in Clontibret on Sunday evening last.

All square in Blayney
Reigning champions Clontibret came within a whisker of booking their place in the semi final but a resurgent Latton struck back deep in injury time to force a draw in this totally absorbing if somewhat low scoring contest in C’Blayney on Saturday evening.

Magheracloone progress
A strong and impressive second half by Magheracloone at Castleblayney last Saturday, saw them end any ambitions that Monaghan Harps may have entertained of progressing in this year’s senior championship.

Deserved victory for Carrick
A more forceful and focused Carrickmacross deservedly advanced to the quarter-finals of the senior football championship and in the process dumped a somewhat out of sorts Doohamlet out of this season’s competition.

Victory for hungrier Toome
A hungrier, more resilient Toome made no mistake at the second attempt as they deservedly advanced to the quarter-finals of the junior football championship at the expense of Oram.

The news that Seamus McEnaney was continuing as manager of Monaghan for another year was confirmed at Monday night’s county board meeting and will be greeted with relief throughout the county.

The New All Weather Astro Turf type Pitch is now completed; the carpet has been laid and filled with the appropriate quality and quantity of infill in order to mimic natural field playing conditions.

O’Neill Shamrocks

Clontibret notes
Clontibret 1-08 Latton 1-08. We struggled to find our form against Latton on Saturday last but managed to grind out a draw.
