This hectic round 1 game of the Gerry Reilly U-16 FT went right down to the wire with defending champions, Cavan holding out for a one point win over neighbours, Monaghan on Sunday evening in the Gilson Park, Oldcastle.
Cavan played with the help of a strong wind in the first half and led by 4 points before Conor Doyle got Monaghan's first point.
