Monaghan hurlers begin their Nicky Rackard Cup campaign this weekend with a home game against Longford.

Clones is the venue for this clash on Saturday evening (5pm) and Monaghan will be keen to make a good start to the campaign.

Longford were promoted to the Nicky Rackard last year after they won the Lory Meagher Cup, while the Ulster side had to win a play-off to retain their third tier status.

Monaghan lost out in this year's NHL 3A final to Tyrone, but they will go into this clash in a confident mood and they should start with a win.
