Hurlers succumb to Louth

March 21, 2013
ALLIANZ HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 3A.

Louth 2-13
Monaghan 0-11

Louth continued their winning ways in Division 3A of the Allianz National Hurling league with a comfortable eight points win over neighbours Monaghan in Dowdalshill, Dundalk, on Saturday afternoon last.

The opening half was far from comfortable for the home side even though they were playing with the aid of a strong wind as Monaghan were aggressive and determined throughout and their defence had the measure of the Louth forwards for long periods of the half.

While Louth struggled in the final third, Monaghan had no such trouble and managed to fire over 9 points compared to a disappointing Louth return of 1-3.
The loss for Monaghan sees them rooted to the bottom of the table still searching for their first points, while the Louth victory sees them heading into the penultimate match of the campaign away to Donegal in a top of the table clash.
