CLUB SCENE.
It was a quiet weekend on the playing fields of Monaghan last weekend but there was some activity in the senior and intermediate football leagues, the O'Duffy Cup and Crawley Cup competitions as well as a number of matches in the minor hurling league, the development hurling league and the final of the under 14 hurling championship.
SFL
There were two games played in the senior football league last Wednesday evening which saw Carrickmacross defeating Monaghan Harps by eight points while Ballybay and Truagh finished all square.
IFL
There were two games also in the intermediate football league that saw Cremartin three points winners over Aughnamullen and Inniskeen enjoying the same margin in their home game against Toome.
O'DUFFY CUP.
There were 8 games played in the O'Duffy Cup on Friday evening last where Scotstown defeated Carrickmacross, Castleblayney won away against Clontibret, Corduff were five points winners over Tyholland, Drumhowan had two to spare against Cremartin while the concession of goals cost Donaghmoyne dearly in their meeting with Killeevan. In the other games Monaghan Harps won away at Doohamlet, Latton had the minimum to spare at home to Truagh and Magheracloone were five points winners in a high-scoring game against Ballybay.
CRAWLEY CUP.
In the Crawley cup Clones were comfortable winners away to Killanny, Sean McDermotts had a very comprehensive victory at home to Inniskeen while Oram got a walkover against Toome. The game between Aghabog and Fergal O'Hanlons is now being played tomorrow evening, Friday May 11th in Aghabog at 7.30pm.
MFL.
There was one game played in the minor football league division 3 on Saturday last May 5th in which Inniskeen defeated Doohamlet by six points in a high scoring affair in Doohamlet. There was a further round of matches played on Tuesday evening past, May 8th, that saw victories for Carrickmacross over Scotstown, Killanny over Clontibret and Castleblayney over Monaghan Harps in division 1. In division 2 Donaghmoyne defeated Latton, Emyvale have a comprehensive win over Cremartin, Magheracloone had four points to spare over Truagh and Sean McDermotts defeated Rock Sarsfields in Threemilehouse by 10 points. In division 3 Doohamlet suffered a second reverse within a week when they lost away to Blackhill, one point the margin there, Corduff and St Patrick's fought out a high-scoring draw, Inniskeen defeated Cuchulainn Sarsfields by a single point in Grattan Park and Tyholland defeated St. Tiarnach's by two points in Tyholland in what was another high-scoring affair.
HURLING.
At inter county level Monaghan completed a unique hurling double when they defeated Fermanagh in the minor championship Shield final in Clones on Wednesday evening last, having already won the Ulster minor hurling league division 2 title. This Saturday Monaghan are out in the Rackard Cup when they take on Donegal in Clones at 2.30pm.
On the club front Friday evening last saw two games in the Development Hurling league with Monaghan Harps winning away at Carrickmacross and Clontibret with a comprehensive victory over Knocks Grattans. Meanwhile in the minor hurling league on Sunday last Clontibret defeated Truagh Harps while Cootehill Celtic had a one point victory over Emmet Grattans. At under age level Monaghan Harps will represent Monaghan in Feile na nGael later in the year after winning the under 14 hurling championship title when they defeated Inniskeen by 2-8 to 1-3 in last Sunday's final.
This evening Thursday, May 10th there is another round of matches in the Development Hurling League all at 7:30 p.m.; Inniskeen at home to a Clontibret, Carrickmacross away at Knocks Grattans and Monaghan Harps at home to Castleblayney. There are two games in the minor hurling league on Sunday next May 13th, both at 12 noon, Castleblayney at home to Emmet Grattans and Cootehill Celtic playing hosts to Clontibret.
FIXTURES.
It is building into a busy weekend with two full rounds of matches in the senior, intermediate and junior football leagues spread over Friday evening and Sunday. However one of the games in the senior football league was played last night, Wednesday May 9th between Magheracloone and Clontibret and there was a Crawley Cup match between Aughnamullen and Castleblayney. There is also the possibility that a number of these games on Friday and even Sunday may be postponed due to the involvement of members of the county hurling team who are in action on Saturday.

The other games in the senior football league on Friday evening May 11th, all of 7:30 p.m. see Carrickmacross at home to Ballybay, Truagh away at Latton, Monaghan Harps playing hosts to Castleblayney and Currin away to Scotstown. On Sunday May 13th the senior football league sees a spread of games with two games at 2 p.m., two at 4 p.m. and one at 5 p.m. between Clontibret O'Neills and Truagh. The earlier start sees Currin taking on Latton in Scotshouse and Magheracloone playing hosts to Monaghan Harps both at 2 p.m. while the two 4 p.m. starts see Ballybay at home to Scotstown and Carrickmacross away at Castleblayney.
IFL
Friday evening also sees two games in the intermediate football league both at 7:30 p.m., Corduff at home to Rockcorry and Doohamlet away at Tyholland. Moving to Sunday there are four games in the intermediate football league, Aughnamullen at home to Corduff and Sean McDermott's away to Rockcorry with both of those starting at 2 p.m. while the games between Doohamlet and Donaghmoyne in Doohamlet and Tyholland and Inniskeen in Tyholland both start at 4 p.m..

In the junior football league on Friday evening Clones are at home to Drumhowan, Eire Og are away to Killanny, Killeevan have home advantage over Emyvale and it's a fairly local affair between Oram and Blackhill in Oram with all four games starting at 7:30 p.m.. Moving to Sunday Aghabog are at home against Oram with that one starting at 1 p.m., Killeevan travel to Blackhill and Emyvale are at home against Clones with both of those starting at 2 p.m. while the meeting of Drumhowan and Killanny in Drumhowan is timed for a 4 p.m. start.

There is another full round of games on Tuesday evening next May 15th in the minor football league divisions 1, 2 and 3 with all games at 7:30 p.m.. In division 1 Carrickmacross are at home against Clontibret, Scotstown are away at Castleblayney and Monaghan Harps play host to Killanny.
In division 2 with all games at 7:45 p.m. Truagh are at home to Donaghmoyne, Emyvale take on Rock Sarsfields in Killeevan, Latton have home advantage over Sean McDermotts and Magheracloone are away to Cremartin.
In division 3 with all games at 7:30 p.m. Cuchulainn Sarsfields take on Blackhill in Aughnamullen, Doohamlet are at home against Tyholland, Inniskeen take on St Patrick's in Ballybay and St Tiarnach's play Corduff in Smithboro.
