Gala Awards night in prospect

The top performers right across the whole GAA spectrum in 2011 will be the special guests of honour at tomorrow night's Gala Presentation Dinner in the Hill Grove Hotel when the Northern Standard/ R&S Printers sponsored Annual Awards will be presented. Proceedings will get under way with dinner at 8 p.m. sharp after which guest speaker Jarlath Burns will entertain the crowd before getting down to the real business of the night the acknowledgement of excellence in football, hurling, camogie, handball and ladies football as well as recognising the work of clubs and club officials during the past year. The occasion will also see two further members inducted into the Monaghan GAA Hall of Fame, an award that is reserved for the elite in the county, players who have represented Monaghan with distinction on the inter county scene and what better exponents than tomorrow night's inductees, Gerry Fitzpatrick, Castleblayney, and Joe Carroll, Inniskeen. Presentations will also be made to the referees who took charge of the various county finals in 2011 in football and hurling and there are a couple of other special presentations to clubs. Currin get a special Merit award in their 125th year and Cremartin pick up the Club of the Year award while Truagh and Monaghan Harps HC get special merit awards for their work with the youth.
