ULSTER BANK MCDEVITT CUP [U14] VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS QUARTER FINAL
St. Mark's Warrenpoint 8-8, Inver College, Carrickmacross 3-7

St. Marks Warrenpoint became the first side through to the Ulster Bank McDevitt Cup semi finals when they had a comfortable win over Inver College Carrickmacross at Sherrys Field on Thursday morning last.
The wind assisted Down champions got off to an explosive start with four goals inside the opening ten minutes and after that there was no way back for the Monaghan lads although to their credit they matched their opponents for the remainder of the contest. Noel Grant, Peter Magee, David Magee, Darragh McPolin, Tiernan Rush, John Paul McCabe and Aaron Magee all played well for the winners, central attackers Rush and Aaron Magee finishing with 5-4 between them. Caolan Brady, Pauric McMahon and Niall Keenan were Inver's best performers on the day. Rush first timed the ball to the net after only five minutes and further majors followed from McCabe, Magee and a superb finish to the top right hand corner from Conor Lowry. It took Carrickmacross sixteen minutes to open their account from a Keenan free but by that stage Rush had punched in goal number five. Peter Magee and Keenan exchanged points before full forward McMahon grabbed a goal for the Monaghan champions. In the final minute of the half though Rush completed his hat trick from the penalty spot to leave it 6-5 to 1-4 at the break.
Within fifteen seconds of the restart Inver had bagged a goal when a flowing four man move was well finished by Tommy Byrne. In the next attack Keenan was unlucky to see his shot come back off the bar as the Monaghan lads threatened a comeback. Keenan and Colm Lowndes added points but any thoughts of a fight back were dispelled at the end of the third quarter when Aaron Magee scored a breakaway goal.
With twelve minutes left to play Inver College were reduced to fourteen men when they had full back Cormac Boylan sent off but they still kept plugging away with Peter McMahon sending Aaron Gernon through for a goal. It was St.Mark's though who had the final say of the game with McCabe scoring his second goal late on as they ran out sixteen point winners.
