McEneaney eager to bounce back

Monaghan manager Eamonn McEneaney has challenged his players to bounce back from last Sunday's humiliating loss to Down against neighbours Armagh tonight.

"The biggest thing now is a good performance because we dipped very badly on Sunday last and we conceded four goals," he said in the Irish News.

"That was a big blow and it was also very disappointing in the manner in which we lost that game because it was over as a contest at half-time. So the boys have to go out and give it a real go."

McEneaney points out that Monaghan's cause hasn't been helped by the unavailability of players who are college-tied.

"I was down in Celtic Park on Saturday night watching Derry and UUJ and we had three players on that college team - Dessie Mone, Kieran Hughes and Neil McAdam - who would all be starting with us, and Dessie only came on as a sub.

"Colin Walshe and David Hughes were playing with DIT and Paul McGuigan was playing with Queen's, all of which makes it very difficult because we are also without players who are coming back from injury and trying to get their place back, so it's difficult."
