Chairman thanks 'Banty'

Monaghan chairman Paul Curran has expressed his gratitude to Seamus McEnaney after he confirmed that he would not be reapplying for the football manager's job on Wednesday.
McEnaney was not prepared to go through the interview process after club delegates had surprisingly voted for other candidates to be sought for the position last week. However, members of the Monaghan panel are continuing to cling onto the hope that 'Banty' will reconsider his decision and return to the hotseat.
In a statement issued yesterday, Curran said: "Coiste Chontae Mhuineacháin wishes to thank Seamus McEnaney for his six years as Monaghan senior football manager. His dedication, passion and devotion to the role are greatly appreciated by the County Committee, players and supporters alike.
"Seamus took over the Monaghan team when they were at the lower end of the rankings. In the intervening six years he has managed Monaghan to a level where they are highly respected on the field of play and can compete with the best in the country.
"Coiste Chondae Mhuineachain will now continue the process to appoint a new manager for the senior football team with a view to maintaining the high standards previously in place."
