Scotstown club notes

Reserve League Div 1: Our B team got their Reserve League round 1 match off to a two point win over Clontibret on Saturday last. A Clontibret goal as early as 10mins put them in the lead by 1-2 to 2pts. Both teams cancelled each other with a brace of points, with Clontibret holding the advantage midway through the first half by 1-3 to 4, then Scotstown were awarded a penalty which Colm McElwain slotted home, plus a couple of more points had the home team in front at the break by 1-7 to 1-4. The second half was evenly balance and Clontibret worked hard to claw themselves back into the contest but in the end Scotstown held on for a win on a final score of 1-12 to 1-10.
Reserve League Fixture: Our B's are at home again in round two of the Reserve League Div 1 on Sunday 14th March against Blaney at 3pm.
Reserve League Div 3: Our C's had a six-point defeat in their opening match away to Ballybay on Sunday last on a score line of 11pts to 5. The team had been somewhat depleted as they were short a number of players. Next match will be a home game against Clontibret on Sunday 21st March

Easter Camp: There will be an Easter Camp this Year for Boys and Girls aged between 8yrs & 13yrs in the kilmore grounds on 30th March to the 1st April. It will start at 10.30am to 3pm and every child will learn/ experience the skills of the game, plus other things. The Cost for a first child is 40Euros and 35Euos each for additional kids in the same family. Application forms can be got at the Schools, Monaghan GAA Website, Drumlinsports.com website or from Paul O Connor (086 8374827) or any coaching staff.
Course: There will be a Foundation Course and a Child Protection Course on the 19th and 20th March 2010. Anyone interested in doing these courses can contact Dermot Maguire (086 2540439) or Michael Owen McMahon (087 7987279). The Child Protection Course will be an important one, particularly, if you are involved with juvenile players.
Summer Camp: The 26th July 2010 is the date, which has been fixed for our VHI GAA CUL Camp. The parents may wish to mark this date in their diary so it doesn't clash with any holiday plans.
Summer Camp Work: Anybody interested in working with the GAA Summer Camps this year can get an application form through Michael Owen McMahon to apply. Closing date is Monday 5th April.
Irish Night: There will be an Irish Night in the Social Club on Tuesday 16th March where a cupla focal agus Ceoil will be the agenda of the night. Anyone who has an Instrument or can sing is welcome. The show begins at 9pm.
Shop in Kilmore: The Sports shop is open every Friday between 6.30pm and 7.30pm were you could avail of sport Socks, Togs, and Jackets etc.
Closure Of Complex: The Complex hall for all Ball Games is now closed until further notice. Our Social Club remains open for Business.
Activity Day in Croke Park: U12 Monaghan Clubs will take part in an Activity Day in Croke Park on Wednesday 7th April. Two Players from Scotstown, Born in 1998, will have the opportunity of taking part. Please ask U12 Managers for details.
Juveniles:
U14s: Training will continue for our U14s on Monday evenings at 7.15pm in Kilmore.
U16s: Training resumes this Friday 12th March in Kilmore at 6pm. All Players must attend.
Sympathy: The Club would like to express its deepest sympathy to the family, relatives & friends of the late Amy O Donoghue (nee Campbell) Scotstown.

Club Membership: The 31st March is the deadline for all Club members to pay their Club Membership for 2010. The Membership fee can be paid to the following Club Members- Martin Mc Carville, Dermot Maguire, our Club Registrar, Stephen McKenna or our Club Secretary, Michael Owen McMahon.
