Clontibret 1-8
Latton 1-8
Reigning champions Clontibret came within a whisker of booking their place in the semi final but a resurgent Latton struck back deep in injury time to force a draw in this totally absorbing if somewhat low scoring contest in C'Blayney on Saturday evening.
Latton dominated the first half but poor finishing saw them hit seven wides and they found themselves going in a point down at the break after Vincent Corey struck for a goal for the champions four minutes from the short whistle.
Half time score Clontibret 1-2, Latton 0-4.
Within minutes of the restart Latton were back in front when Hugh McElroy fired to the Clontibret net but they were dealt a bad blow about midway through the half when Bernard O'Brien was dismissed for a second booking and at a stage when they still held a one point lead. Clontibret now began to take increasing control and entering the final minutes had taken a one point lead but Latton struck back for the equaliser from a free by Hugh McElroy with just seconds remaining.
