Ladies SFC: Monaghan back in final

August 30, 2008
Monaghan will feature in the TG4 All-Ireland ladies senior football final following their 2-16 to 1-12 win over Mayo in Navan. The Ulster side clinched their place in the decider for the first time since 2002 thanks in part to a 21st minute converted penalty by Edel Byrne which helped ease the winners-elect into a 1-8 to 0-10 interval lead. Monaghan stayed in the driver's seat thereafter with great perforrmances from the likes of Niamh Kindlon, Catriona McConnell and Ciara McAnespie and a clinching goal from Therese McNally.
