Magheracloone focused on job in hand

Magheracloone have made a swift return to senior football in Monaghan, but now the IFC champions are looking to add provincial glory to their list of honours.

Two thousand and eighteen was quite frankly a terrible year for the club as on the pitch, they suffered relegation, having only played in the county final 12 months earlier.

Add in the fact that their pitch was devoured by a sink hole, which means they are currently ‘homeless’ and you can see it was a year to forget for the club.

They have bounced back this year winning the Monaghan IFC and now they face Tyrone champions Galbally in the Ulster club IFC final on Saturday evening.

Magheracloone manager James Kierans told the Ulster Herald that they are in bonus territory at this stage.

“Our focus was obviously on winning promotion again. Once that was achieved, it was great to have a new challenge for the players,” said Kierans.

He added: “Like ourselves, they probably felt that they are a senior team capable of playing that level of football. So, we both have similar goals, including a win on Saturday evening.”
