The club season was supposed to get underway in Monaghan last weekend with a full round of matches in all divisions in the Reserve football league but the weather took a hand, so that opening round of games is now being played this weekend.

The action gets underway on Friday evening with the meeting of Oram and Sean McDermotts in division 3 in Castleblayney at 8.00pm. The other games
are all on Saturday at 4.00pm. In division 1A, Donaghmoyne are at home against Scotstown, Truagh are away at Latton and Clontibret travel to Magheracloone.

In division 1B, Cremartin have home advantage over Killanny, Aughnamullen travel to Castleblayney and it's a fairly local affair between Emyvale and Monaghan Harps in St. Oliver Plunkett Park. In division 2A Ballybay are at home against Carrickmacross and Drumhowan are away at Blackhill, while in division 2B,  it's a local derby between Aghabog and Eire Og in Aghabog and Tyholland travel to Clones. In division 3, Currin are at home against Inniskeen.

Meanwhile in the Ulster club intermediate football league, Killanny finished their stint in section C on a winning note when they had a resounding 3-18 to 0-3 victory over Derrynoose, to finish 2nd in the table on 6 points, but missing out on a place in the play-offs.
