Donaghmore Ashbourne's Andrew Tormey holds onto possession during his side's Meath SFC clash against Seneschalstown at Stamullen.

There was a hectic day of action across the opening round of the club SFC, IFC and JFC despite five postponements.

Former county panellist Andrew Tormey came off the bench to score 1-1 for Donaghmore Ashbourne who had to dig deep to overcome Seneschalstown at a newly appointed Stamullen - the Dublin border outfit ran out narrow 1-12 to 1-11 winners over the Yellow Furze-Kentstown parish club.

In the second-part of a double-header at the St Patrick's grounds, St Colmcille's created another piece of history as they saw off Rathkenny by 1-17 to 0-12. A Cathal Hilliard goal midway through the second-half helped the 'Cilles' on their way to their first SFC victory in 25 years.

Meanwhile, at Pairc Tailteann, Skryne proved too strong for neighbours Curraha on a 1-14 to 0-10 scoreline in what was the first senior championship meeting between the two neighbours.

In the IFC, Syddan carried their excellent league form into the championship when beating Drumbaragh (2-10 to 2-5) while Bective saw off Oldcastle (1-10 to 1-7) having trailed by six-points at one stage.

Elsewhere, Carnaross got the better of Clonard (1-13 to 0-12) in a battle of last year's beaten JFC semi-finalists.
