Cavan's Martin Reilly

Martin Reilly is delighted with the emphatic victory over neighbours Meath that fired Cavan to the top of Division Two.

Despite only prevailing by five points in the end, the Breffni County were vastly superior to the Royals in all departments on Sunday as they took a vital step towards sealing an instant return to the top flight.

"It's great to get the win and it was a big two points for us that sets us up nicely for the Cork game which will be a very tough game," the Killygarry clubman told The Irish News.

"Meath were favourites coming into the game but we were confident we could get a win and we did the job and we're delighted with it. We were confident and everyone stuck to their plan, did their job and did all the basics well. It was a slippery day with the wet ball but we got a result and it's a huge two points for us.

"But we have come on this year under Matt[ie McGleenan]. He has got to know us a wee bit better and we've got to know him a wee bit better and what he expects from us. I think we have come on a good bit, we're looking to improve every game and I think we're doing that."
