...... did Meath concede 3-19 to that Westmeath team. This proves once more that Meath are incredibly unfit and the defensive structure in place is a joke. Embarrassed and sickened watching that rubbish this evening. Surely their display against Fermanagh today is the final eye opener needed for the Meath County board to see that Mick O'Dowd has to go.

I have to say,I agree 100%,infact Meath have a better panel of players than Fermanagh, nevermind Westmeath. Its simply shocking that we lost that match to Westmeath, and especially the way we lost it.

It was horrendous stuff from our point of view, I was expecting a lot more out of Westmeath this evening but if that's the team that beat us then we're in big trouble, it's sickening to be honest!

First thought that came into my head on the final whistle today.

Has be embarrassment all over again for management . Players must be sick to see this.
If this stuff is repeated in the League next year under MOD, then I think the knives will be out before Championship

Think how embarrassing it is for me i live in Westmeath, unreal. As op said this is it, no more. Under any circumstances can mod get another game never mind year.
Embarrassment beyond belief. How on earth could we loose to that Westmeath team??
Ill go even further and say its more embarrassing that those who advocates mod remaining are using the example of first half to justify their support . We blew a 10 point lead to a below average Westmeath. NO MORE. !;;;;

This might be what was required for clubs to wake up and think long and hard before giving MOD another chance.

Seadog lets hope it is. But i think cb has to explain how they can unanimously recommend his retention. It brings up huge questions regarding there judgment, or lack of in this case.
Lets pray the clubs have more sense , i have full faith they will see this as it is.

How can a team similar ability to ourselves beat Cork by 7 points, and we lose to a poor side like Westmeath?

I agree, If I was to rate the most horrendous performances from a Meath team over the years I have supported Meath they were Limerick in 2008, Monaghan in the league last year and the Westmeath capitulation.

This latest result does makes a desperate result seem even worse. Embarrassing.

I see it this way, we've been hampered by injuries this year more than other years. This meant we didn't have the strength in depth to see out the Westmeath game especially after the black cards and taking Harry Rooney off was crucial but that's with the benefit of hindsight. Similarly we got through the Wicklow game with a patched up defence.

This year was always going to be a right off once the injuries mounted up after the league. There are questions surrounding our strength and conditioning and fitness which cannot all be blamed on Mick O'Dowd although he does take some of it.

However the problems within Meath football will not be fixed by getting rid of Mick. And id like to know if any real replacements are available because I don't know of any.

We can get rid of Mick but we still won't have the strength in depth in the squad to compete with the top teams. As Sean Boylan said we played some great football at times. Give Mick a chance with a full strength squad and with proper fitness and we'll do much better. We certainly wouldn't have lost to Westmeath.

I'm not suggesting Mick is a great manager but don't expect any improvement until our county teams at all levels are properly prepared as they are in Dublin.

Loyaltoyal with all due respect that's all excuses, last year we had more injuries than this, the strength in depths that you speak of was omitted by mod, no one else. Ill give you one prime example Chris O'Connor yes age is not on his side 30 i think but is still one of the best half backs in county and could easily have done the job that instead keoghan was used to plug, also he is the best player in his club yet two of his club mates are on panel, don't figure??
I feel mods insistence that it wasn't his fault and down to injuries is total waffle, Kerry in transition could loose the Gooch for Christ sake.
Now we not near Kerry standards but surely we can loose a few lads and still account for the likes of Wicklow and Westmeath, and to say otherwise is nonsense.

One other thing its upto mod to expect the unexpected, injuries in sport happen, plan accordingly first rule of management!!!
Also not been fit? He cant get a team fit after 3 years , come on. How can anyone say he needs 4/5 years to get team fit for 70mins. Its a joke.
These are not underage structure problems, they are not general what's wrong with Meath football problems, they are all mods problems of his own making.

Pundit definitely Kildare are no 2, under current management we would be lucky to be 3 or 4, id say going on championship its dubs Kildare Westmeath Laois / Meath. But sure cb wont be happy until we the new Carlow.

Only lack of a free taker and Wicklow would have been above us too, Westmeath scored a total of 13 points in two games, yet hit us for a massive score. Doesn't make for easy reading

Yeah. And funny thing Wicklow were missing their best players too, but the manager didn't come out and whinge about it, blaming everything from injuries to the weather, pathetic

I n fairness to westmeath they were missing the two players that did the most damage to us.

Forglory, Fermanagh still would have beat them easily, and Fermanagh are no great shakes either.
We need to grasp the nettle here. Total clean out, start from the beginning, we are better than we are achieving.
