I've looked at a lot of people who were posting the abuse and they were either 10 years old or most of them weren't from meath. It was a dirty Tackle but we will not start putting our players down still support paddy and the team. How can you expect your county to go out and play with pride with the abuse they receive? I for one will have no part in it. An Mhi Abu

Usual trolls, if not Paddy then someone else. Do they have any idea of the damage they can cause. Not in any way excusing his tackle, got what he deserved and that should be that.

Haven't checked them. But disgusting, the red was fully deserved that was end of that. He committed a crime and was punished in the right way.

Gaa players should not be subject to torrid abuse from fans. People are associating them with premier league players who earn lots of money and are subject to vile personal abuse aswell. Gaa players earn nothing, They make massive sacrifices to play inter county football and to be downgraded personally is not fair.

Also i for one cannot see how so many people thought O Rourkes sending off was fair, his momentum took him into the challenge and if anything was it not a body check by the Westmeath player albeit the only difference is body checks usually result in the player receiving it gets taken to the ground, and Paddy collided causing him to fall over

Beautiful.Meath I'm afraid you're wrong, most of the tweets were from Meath "fans" including at least one former underage Meath goalie which makes it worse! Moment of madness and stupidity but doesn't deserve any of the abuse.

Paddy You had a bad day at the office...but you know that yourself....you also know you had many good days at the office and THANKS for all those. I for one believe you were very harshly treated with the sending off. As for the tweeting just ignore them Paddy!

all keyboard warriors yes he did deserve the goal and yes he did have probably his worst game in the county jeresy but no player at any level deserves to be threatened like pa did and beautiful meath they were not just 10 year olds they were fully grown adults, and to paddys credit he has been retweeting some of the abuse

Why is the media going with this story and several Meath websites jumping to por in support.

Why would u search for your name and then retweet these messages hours after a brutal defeat.
Meath management and players should have this controlled.

As a county we should be worried about the type of players being produced and replacing the current co setup with the right group.
How could u concede 3-19 this is a high hurling score.
3-12 against the might Wicklow.

I have watched Meath senior teams over the last 3 years with half backs standing wrong side of their men on kick outs!
This should not be tolerated at minor level.

We have been beaten by Wexford, Longford and Westmeath and most of the media talk is about the wrong subject and individual who seems obsessed with media coverage both bad and good!!

NMM I'm not trying to defend the management or POR but they cannot control what a player does in his spare time on a social media platform. It happens in the premier league with professional players never mind amateurs.

Also I'd imagine Paddy was doing anything he could to take his mind off the game, If people start tweeting him he's gonna get notifications about it. Very hard to ignore I'd imagine.

was paddy himself not abusing diarmuid connolly not too long ago on the social media (hence connolly refusing to shake his hand before the leinster final last year). the words glasshouses and throwing stones come into mind here.

Uncle fester the lad searched for his name, he wasn't directly contacted and then hours after a game retweeted these comments.

Jesus they should hiding with the shame..
Seems to be an issue with key board warriors but anyone who takes this seriously should know it comes with territory.

The abuse everyone involved got is well deserved and should be treated the same way as praise or slap on the back from supporters after playing well.

Mod should have told players to stay away from media in the dressing room after the game but suspect he's way out of depth and has lost the dressing room.
