So Donal has been made captain for next season in the absence of Kevin Reilly (who is a big loss), makes perfect sense to me, although he only came onto the scene in 2012 he is easily our best defender and probably our best player all round. So all the best to Donal, hopefully it works out well for him and hopefully he can lead by example next year and other players around him will show as much effort and determination as he does.

Well I think every genuine Meath supporter will be very heartened by this appointment. Donal has been an inspirational player for Meath over the past couple of years and his bravery, determination, courage, passion, spirit, skill and leadership are just a few of his qualities. His selection is a testament to the type of player that he is and indeed the type of young man that he is, a credit to himself, his family and club and a very proud day for him, his family and all from Rathkenny. Congrats to Donal, he was the stand out choice here. Leads by example. And great to see that we are not one of these counties thats hand cuffed by changing captain every season depending on who the county champions are. Heres hoping Donal has plenty of speeches to be making next season.
