How many supporters do we have?

(Oldest Posts First)

Just something I've been wondering about.
And if need be break it down between the maximum and the core supporters.
The 2006 census said we had about 163,000 people in the county.
Then there are quite a few living in the UK and Europe who might travel home too, I know a few who do.

So for instance if we were in an All-Ireland final; how many Meath supporters would we have looking for tickets?
80,000-90,000

An All-Ireland semi?
30,000-40,000

Those who go to Leinster championship/qualifier games?
20,000-30,000

O'Byrne Cup or League Games?
5,000-7,000

Would those estimates be about right?

I think your figures are a little high.
Those figures are closer to total attendance rather than soley Meath AND depending on the opposition.

I think you're right there,

The reason I'm throwing the first scenario in is to get an idea of the absolute maximum would consider paying money to go see Meath play as opposed to those who would actually get a ticket.

Opposition and location of games are the main variables to consider but I'm just trying to get a picture of the averages.

yeah agree with Jinxie,in the O'Byrne Cup or League games it depends on the opponent, and perhaps timing of the game.

Yeah about right. But ill tell you one thing when they do get to a final the ones who were at home not knowing or caring about the obyrne or league will be demanding a ticket while those like myself who attends them all can't get one. Just to clarify a home game is a 80 mile + journey for me and my family as I live outside county and as such imot a club member even though I played for a meath club for many years. Sorry just had to rant about that as it has always annoyed me how easy the gair weather fans gor tickets and I was out on jones rd paying 5 times face value for a ticket
