Division Four

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Interesting to see how the CB organise division 4 this year. They find it hard enough to fix 11 games, I hate to imagine when a 15 game league will be finished...I'm guessing 2013

It shouldnt be that hard to do at all.
Other counties do it, so they should be well able to do it here.

I know it shouldn't....but that doesn't mean it doesn't.

It'll be a right disaster. All will start off great in February with a few games in quick succession and will grind to a halt in the middle of the summer around championship time.

They need to start assigning leagues to certain days of the week where at all possible i.e play A league every Tuesday evening from May and B league say every Thursday evening alternating with hurling where needs be.

The leagues drag on into Winter as it is with piling another 4 teams into a division. This will also be a serious drain on any clubs in this division who play hurling.
Bad planning on behalf of our County Board yet again - they never should have let the farcical situation arise that so few teams were competing in Div 5.

I just can't see it running smoothly.

We had a situation towards the end of last year where we had a championship match on the Saturday and and then were fixed to play the quarter final the following Wednesday/Thursday (another issue with lack if respect for teams there but we'll leave that for the minute). I'm not sure what the big rush was for because we were made wait another 6 weeks for our final league game. Can't see there logic in their thinking most f the time.

Midweek games where possible is an idea but as well but we should have a league game every week between the end if Feb and the beginning of the champ.

in fairness, credit where credit is due, the Fixtures Committee did a good job on fixtures last year. We got three fixture plans which they almost always stuck to. Its up to clubs to quit asking for games to be moved changed everytime a lad is going on a stag/wedding/weekend away. When you consider hurling & Football, the number of gardes at adult and Minor, the number of referees...then the fixtures committee do a serious job.
However, increasing the A League by 3 or 4 rounds......could spell disaster.

If you go to the Meath website and go to club results and look through all off last year. Teams are often going 2 maybe 3 weeks without a game so there's plenty of time for the games but then what people must take into account is that clubs at some stage during the year are looking to have a game re-fixed for different dates. Inevitably the leagues are always gonna finish real late in the year no matter what they try and do.
