Well It looks like were only working with one keeper, so thats Gallagher in Goals
If Kevin Reilly is back fit, then Id put him in full back, moving Menton out to Midfield.
Theres only 3 or 4 really to come in from the last few games, the question is if they are up to the sharpness or match fitness yet?

I'd go with,

1 D. Gallagher
2 G. O'Brien
3 K. Reilly
4 C. King
5 C. Lenihan
6 S. McAnarney
7 C. McGuinness
8 B. Menton
9 M. Ward
10 B. Meade
11 G. Reilly
12 S. Kenny
13 P. Gilsenan
14 J. Sheridan
15 S. Bray

A bit unlucky on Tom Walsh, but I can see his versatility being his downfall here and him being kept for midfield when Ward tires.
We really need a free taker in there, but its hard to see who'll make way for C Ward. Personally Id drop Bray for a cuple of week because he's way of his normal form, but the counter argument to that is he needs the games to bring him back.
Unlucky to for Donnacha Tobin who showed well in the first 2 games of the O'Byrne cup, but its just hard to see where they are all going to fit.

1. D. Gallagher
2. D. Dalton or C. O'Connor
3. K. Reilly
4. G. O'Brien
5. C. King
6. S. McAnarney
7. C. Lenihan
8. M. Ward
9. B. Menton
10. S. Kenny or B. Meade
11. P. Gilsenan (wing)
12. G. Reilly (wing) ... less likely to play like an American football running back if out wide than the more central CHF position.
13. S. Bray
14. J. Sheridan
15. C. Ward

If King played at #2 and Menton went to CHB, McAnarney as a wing back, you could have both Kenny and Meade with Mark Ward in midfield.

If C. King played corner back, could Brian Meade play CHB with Menton in midfield in his place with Ward alongside and Kenny helping out.

Stephen Bray will only get scores if he is in the FF line. If he comes out to the half-forward line or midfield to win ball be ends up ineffective at present. Paddy Gilsenan will be effective wherever he plays so I think he is a better ball winner. Him and Bray could link the HF and FF line quite well. Graham bombing down the right wing. Joe at FF with Cian there also for more firepower and of course freetaking.

Something like this

D. Gallagher

C. King ... K. Reilly ... G. O'Brien

C. Lenihan ... B. Meade (purely defensive role, let the other two attack) ... S. McAnarney

B. Menton ... M. Ward
S. Kenny

G. Reilly ... C. Ward (with license to move between CHF and FF line) ... P. Gilsenan

J. Sheridan ... S. Bray

I agree with your thinking on Menton at chb, but Id be shocked to see Banty move McAnarney out of there.

Glas,

Meade was tried at CHB before, it didn't work so why would Banty try it.

Put Menton CF or CHB

Honestly can't imagine McAnarney will have a season like last, and will sturggle to get into the team. I think he benefitted from Menton's injury last season, and fair play to him, but he's way too loose and doesn't hold the centre like your CHB should be doing.

I agree that its hard to see McAnarney reach the heights he reached last year, but its also very hard to see Banty not picking him either...

1. Micky McQuillan

2. Mark Reilly. 3. Mick Lyons. 4. Bobbie O'Malley

5. Darren Fay 6. Liam Harnan 7. Martin O'Connell

8. Gerry McEntee 9. John McDermott

10. Tommy Dowd. 11. Trevor Giles 12. PJ Gillic

13. Colm O'Rourke 14. Graham Geraghty 15. Ollie Murphy

I hope Banty goes for this selection - it'd give the crowd some lift for the last 10mins in any case - and let nobody underestimate the importance of that....

GlasagusOr i am pretty sure that Meade at CHB would be a disaster because he persistently gets yellow cards for careless tackling, if he was CHB there would forwards running at him and I would expect him to get two yellow cards before half-time.

Modern Centre-Back is no longer an old-fashioned stopper. You have to be mobile, hard-working but most importantly ready and able to win any kickouts that break towards your own half. Think Miskella, Karl Lacey, even Ger Brennan. It's very risky committing any one of the half-back line to the kickout so it's more typical to see one centre-back hustling for the ball and two wing-backs hanging back to cover the centre.

McAnarney does this superbly. Mickey Burke could potentially play this role too but the former has a bit more football about him so leave him at 6.

Fair comment Jinxie...

Think maybe he might be better in the corner. I know thats a bit of a contradiction too what i said about him being too loose, but most teams are going with the two man full forward line so let Shane maybe pick up the guy going out the field and win the dirty ball out there..

Think we should play Menton CHB and bed him in for the next few years, and build around him and Kevin Reilly. Its no coincidence that we haven't had a settled CHB (or defence for that matter) for years (I think Hank Traynor/Enda McManus were the last we had) and our full back line is constantly under pressure. Teams are running at us and the CHB is not in position to defend because he's not playing regularly and forget's he should hold...he also has to be a ball player too who when we win the ball can distribute to the CHF line or get it long into the FF line, can support midfield and push on and attack when the situation arises.. (Enda and Hank were always good for a point or two)...

Think Banty really needs to have a settled team throughout the league this year, so players know where they are playing, where the players around them are playing so ye build confidence in the whole unit. This constant chopping and changing of the team and 5 new faces every week only brings confusion...Get your best team onto the pitch and they can build up the understanding between them and improve the sum of the parts

In fairness I think picking King is going backwards,Surely we have a better keeper? Gallagher always has been a suspect shot-stopper and it was a poor attempt to save DCU's first goal. His kick-outs arent the best too..

My team...

1.I don't know,no Murphy or O'Rourke and I don't know enough about the other keepers(surely we have better than Gallagher)
2.Davy Dalton
3.Kevin Reilly
4.Gary O'Brien
5.Ciaran Lenihan
6.Shane McAnarney
7.Michael Burke
8.Mark Ward
9.Brian Menton
10.Seamus Kenny
11.Cormac McGuinness (hasn't defended well, but he has good vision and a good pass, worth a try)
12.Graham Reilly(better wide as he gets crowded out in the middle)
13.Paddy Gilsenan
14.Joe Sheridan
15.Stephen Bray

Of course it all depends on how fit players are etc,but our full forward line need to play in the full forward line ,Ward and McGuinness are our best players in regards passing into the forwards..

We tried Meade at CHB before and well let's say it didn't work,I don't understand why so many pick him?? At CHB he would drag too many playersw down giving away easy frees

Just reading some of the debates in regards to CHB and Menton. For the record I think Mentons best position is CHB,but I just think his need at midfield could well be more pressing. We have more good options in the half-back line, less so at midfield..

Menton has played full back against Dcu and louth . he has bombed forward and set up scores but i think CHB would be better for him if he wants to attack like he has in the first two games and mickey burke at number 7 for first game of league dont think so he is gone to ethopia by then i think
