Looks like the Wood will be safe after their win against Castletown yesterday. By the looks of things Castletown are favourites to go down. Can they raise their game for Clan Na Gael or will they drop timidly?

although we lost by four pints to the wood we will stay up with a superior points difference of about 15 points after the clan na gael match

think we should just go down and give junior a go ! and hopefully get a bit of interest back in the thing.
nothing worse than playing championship games and getting beat in them

Swansong- That's what Castletown said when they decided to drop to intermediate in the early 90's. It wont be easy for any team to get out of Junior, look at Don/Ash.

Swansong are you sure you are a Castletown man?? Because if you are i would really appreciate you to make ur identity known and should you be a player/selector or even manager you would be better off stayin away from the Clann Na Gael game because our club is stepped in history at Senior and Intermediate level,no mention of Junior in it and a true Castletown man dosent want it to be,so leave ur negative and defeatest attitude at home, i sincerely hope ur not a current player!!

which would be better for the current crop of young lads playing .............

playing inter football for the next 3-5yrs getting beat and maybe winning one game to stay up .

or

playing junior football maybe playing in semi finals / finals

numbers are low in the club already and getting beat game after game is going to do nothing to incourage young lads to come down and play the game FACT
no im not a current player you can rest easy

Swansong is exactly what's wrong with the club. Looking for the easy option. You think dropping down is the answer, well it's not. Castletown would be the laughing stock of North Meath. They have the players that should be well able to compete at intermediate level, as seen by getting to the final a couple of years ago, and the fact that all their losses have been very tight over the past 2 years. Look at their neighbours Rathkenny & Tones and tell me that they shouldn't be aspiring to be up at that level.

No Swansong you really havent a clue, this team was in an Intermediate final 3yrs ago and and with 13 of that starting team still available for selection (And some great talent after coming through in the last 3 yrs) how can you say that they are better off dropping down!! I think you are just seeking a bit of glory in Junior grade which bear in mind dosent come easy! This team had had 3 inexperienced managers in last 3 seasons which i believe have contributed to there unfortunate results, Last year they should have topped there group but for two one point defeats and they are easily maintaining Div 2 status, name another junior team that does that?? None!! Dropping would be a disaster for players who have seeked that IFC glory for so long,If ur not a current player then i dont know why i am even getting annoyed with ur opinion your most likely someonw that never kicked a ball beyond the age of 15!

Its not the players because if it was they wouldnt have been so close in 2007 and almost still have the same bunch of lads, i believe its also true that former players and current players approached the manager to inform him training wasnt hard enough?? Whos is at fault there Swansong?? Maybe the committe seen as they re-appointed him after the majority of players were against his return!

Look couple of facts

1 Castletown are favourites for relegation

Why Since playing in 2007 Intermediate Final they have only won 2 (two) games in IFC beating a decimated Drumconrath team in 2008 and an even more down in the dumps Drumconrath team in 2009. So in 3 years that is all they have been capable of beating.

2. Castletown are that cocky that they probally still think they can win the IFC in 2010 that the way they think over there.

3 Its a disgrace that they are that low would say that this club probally never was a Junior club

4. Results show that they probally will go down and their underage is probally one of the weakest in the whole county.

5 So sooner or later they will face the chop.

Castletown 4-6 Athboy 0-10

Fair play to Castletown to hold on they are safe now. Athboy look to be in big trouble but it will depend on how Wood react.

Athboy where so bad for so long last night it was unreal.

Castletowns pride seen them tru which is fair enough As the poem goes "Castletown brave Castletown the Daddies of them all" and it was the older lads Mick Hickey, Damo Ginnity Socks and Barry Smith and Kevin Barry that seemed to be of the mindset "we wont be part of a team that drops.

But I stand by my comments that there is very little coming on in underage in Castletown...... maybe great work is going on Saturday morning but the last decade shows that they compete in the lowest of the low at underage in Meath and that has to follow tru at some stage.

But Well done last night as Athboy now must beat the Wood by 6 or 7 points to stay up a tall order methinks.
