Skryne is Senior since 1938. I think the next longest is Walterstown since sometime in the sixties and will probably be relegated this year. Maybe Trim are longer.

Looking at the Intermediate roll of honour, Trim last won the intermediate in 1949 so I assume they have been senior since then - maybe some Trim poster can confirm this. Walterstown won it in 1964 and Seneschalstown in 1967 and both have definitely been senior since. None can match Skrynes achievement who won the intermediate in 1937 and are the longest serving senior team - a pretty good feat for a rural club.

you are right, it is Skryne followed by Trim. I agree it is an excellent achievement by Skryne as small areas are sometimes up and down with regards to numbers over the years. Good achievement by Trim as they have been there or therabouts in the SHC for many of those years.

very simple answer:-

1 Skryne - always,
2. Trim - 1949,
3. Walterstown - 1964,
4. Seneschalstown - 1967,
5. Summerhill - 1972

Rest nowhere.

trim1 -I would not call Skryne a small area or indeed a small club-not sure what you are comparing against. And Ibbecek your very simple answer is incorrect as there is at least another club which has been in senior championship in consecutive years for over 50 years! - it depends on how you intrepet stats!. If you want to talk about sucess it is the number of championship that you win not the amount of time that you are there !. Trim has not won many for all those years and as far as I know Skryne have there so long have never won 3 in a row

Hi Browncows.

I am all ears.

Would love to know another club which has been senior for over 50 years.

Browncows- Skryne is a small rural club. there is approx 300 houses in the parish of Skryne/ Rathfeigh ( and not all involved in GAA), so I don't know why you are saying that it is a large club, fact is it is most definitely not. Also the club is senior since 1937.

Leave Browncows alone. He's just a little peeved about something or other. Skryne may be a larger parish than say Kilmainhamwood or Drumconrath but it is still a fairly small parish when compared to Navan, Kells, Trim or indeed Oldcastle or Athboy. It is a remarkable achievement for any small rural club and probably compares very favorably with any parish in the country. It's a pity that they are not a bit stronger at the moment as Meath won't get anywhere until Skryne can supply a few more greats to the county. Maybe some of the young turks in that parish will pick up the baton and run with it so that we can regain our pride again in the country.
