Refreshing watching Galway today...

(Oldest Posts First)

They are playing the way we should be playing ourselves.. A lot of foot passing(long and short),direct football into 3 forwards working very close to each other. The type of football that would suit ourselves

Watching Louth today you would wonder how we were thrashed by them. They were the better of the two sides in the first half, found it easy to run at and through the Westmeath defense. Second half Westmeath were far the better side. Came from two points down at half-time to two in front, playing against the breeze. Lost one of the Glennon's and that killed some of their momentum and Louth got out of jail with a late goal. The Dubs can be as rusty as they like, Louth will be of no threat to them in a few weeks time.

Yeah I've been an admirer of this new Galway team for some time now. If you win ball from kickouts and let it in long and early then you don't have to compete with any sweepers and it's the fullforwards against the fullbacks. Galway's halfback line looks mean, particularly Bradshaw and O'Donnell.

I would love to see us play like this but even with Evans taking over the training I don't think Banty will abandon his posession game. Maybe if Joe starts at fullforward the lads will start to play off the cuff a bit more and kick it in. Would love to see us play the likes of King and Lenihan alongside McAnarney. Real playmakers as opposed to runners.
