Between Trim and Rathmolyon. Not too far from Ballivor either.

If your coming from Trim, head out by Trim Gaa Pitch (Balivor Road). After about 4km you take a road to the right, it brings you across a bridge. Stay on that road for about another 2/3km and you'll see the pitch on the right hand side.
From Athboy direction, go to Kildalkey, when you come in through the village, you'll come to a T-Junction, take a left. Head out that road and take your first right. Follow that road right to the end, and you'll come to another T-Juction, take the left and the pitch is up there on your left hand side.

Great to get a win against one off the bigger teams. Good to be causing upsets by beating teams from the high divisions. I'm sure the Kildare fan club will be on to tell us what a great "giant-killing" feat it was.

jesus jinxie good man to find positives in every situation, a big win after a run of defeats regardless of opposition is a plus,

id say if you won the lottery you would be moaning about all the media attention you would get

stekhli, from memory and there were lots of changes

Gallagher
O'Brien Reilly not sure who else
O'Connor Menton Harrington
Gillespie Eoin Reilly (#11)
Graham Reilly Peadar Byrne Seamus Kenny
Carroll, Joe Sheridan & Farrell

Forde may also have started cannot remember with all the chopping & changing ... so team something like that

Kevin Reilly looked the most accomplished not that he had much to do. Peader was very lively, ran soccer style from 30 yards to win a penalty which Joe kicked wide. Peader then scored a goal himself, very well taken finish. Not sure he has 70 mins in him at championship pace, but he shows the most initiative and has to be in the reckoning for gametime come the championship. Eoin Reilly had a good first half moreso than in the second. I think he and Harrington (of the fringe players) played the full match out. Gillespie while involved is not catching or at least holding onto much ball at midfield so major problems there for the summer as we all know. Menton was solid throughout as per usual. Graham Reilly full of running at times but not a lot of end product, Kenny improved on recent form. Forde lively and Farrell mobile. Joe looks sluggish, so it will be #14 not #11 in the championship. He scored a great point at the start of the second half, plus two goals, one a tap in, the other a fisted goal from a difficult angle / high ball. So most effective closer to goal. Cian Ward came on with Jamie Queeney for the second half and a few more changes. CW played slightly deeper, he generally prefers to just shoot for scores, target practice etc so not really a potential CHF option. Jamie Queeney gave a better showing than usual in the HF line. C. King came on first half and looked decent enough. As was Mickey Burke (sub). Stephen Bray second half sub but may have got a knock and came off again. Farrell good enough as well.

I think it was 2-6 to 0-3 at half time. While the scoreline might suggest it was very one-sided, in general play it wasn't really. Just that Meath brought their shooting boots and were more effective going forward. Didn't have to work too hard for scores. On the other hand Westmeath struggled to get through our back line, didn't get the time or space to get handy scores as Meath defended more tigerishly.

I think the most important aspect of the game was despite playing a running/hand passing game in our our half, in the second half at least they played a few more direct kick passes from midfield onwards. Granted Westmeath's loose marking gave the forwards plenty of space in front, so whether this will happen against better teams down the road, we will have to wait and see. But I'm hopeful, we will see a more direct attack (at least) for the Wicklow game.

That's my view of the game, others may see things differently no doubt.

Always good to get a win, even if it is only a challenge game against a weakened side. we will take any sort of a win at this stage. Good to see some of the names on the teamsheet - Damien Carroll, Eoin Reilly , Mark Collins all getting a run. Eoghan Harrington and Peader Byrne back in action. It begs the obvious question though - why weren't these guys given game time earlier in the year? We are now a month away from the championship and we are trying lads out for the first time. Is that not what the O'Byrne cup and League were for? I wouldn't mind but Banty would have got a lot more people on his side had he thrown the youngsters in for the league and got relegated- at least he could have said that he was building for the future. Instead we got sent down playing dire football with the same old faces lining out. Now finally we see the new guys when it is too late. I just don't undersatnd.

Well aren't you just a real ray of sunshine today.

The post was drenched in sarcasm towards our Kildare friends who were telling us that a win against teams in higher league divisions would now be considered a huge shock and a giant killing feat for Meath. So going by their reckoning, we pulled off a giant killing result today.

On a serious note, it's good to see a win and a good score, but I wouldn't read much more into it.
