Tough stance by Juvenile Board

September 07, 2006
Juvenile secretary Peter O'Halloran has warned clubs that switching matches at under 13 level is just not on and released the following statement: "As you are aware U-13 Leagues started last weekend. Some games seem not to have taken place. As the Juvenile Board had NO REQUESTS for postponement of any games this is taken as a serious vilolation of rules.              In the past "a soft approach" was taken by myself to such matters but this no longer will be the case games that do not take place on appointed dates will be dealt with as stressed in Juvenile Rule Booklet and there will be no exceptions to this rule.               I have always adpoted the approach not to limit games played by Juvenile Footballers in Meath but as this year both U-14 Summer Shield and U-12 Fair Play leagues have given extra games this will no longer be the case. These Leagues have defered the U-13 starting date somewhat and time constraints are now a big issuse.         Therefore no games can be postponed without consent of Juvenile Secretary and be warned that I will be taking a "Barney Allen" approach to such requests. Unplayable pitches will mean home venue will be lost as game should go ahead at reverse venue on the day the match is fixed for. Should adult matches interfer then it is up to the home club to move match forward or play the game at reverse venue at the same appointed time.               I hope the message is clear GAMES TO GO AHEAD AS FIXED no exceptions.               Please note I have now changed my Mobile and can be contacted from 8th Sept on 087-2054918 0r 041-6854547 or on 087-6943394 until that date."   Mise le Mheas   Peadair Oh-Allurain [Runai]
