Simonstown caught at the death

September 04, 2006
Simonstown Gaels' SFC hopes hang by a thread following their one point defeat to Duleek in Skryne. Duleek 0-10 Simonstown Gael 0-9 As normal time drew to a close the sides were level but the east Meath side struck the match winning point in the third minute of injury time. Colm O'Rourke's charges led by 0-7 to 0-6 at the break and had 'keeper Gary Lynch to thank for a 15th minute penalty save. Shane O'Neill put his name to the first two points of the second half but that was to be as good as it got for the Gaels as they failed to score for the remainder of the contest. The result means that the team in sky blue must beat Kilmainhamwood in the last group game and hope that Summerhill do them a favour against Duleek. Simonstown - G Lynch; M O'Rourke, A Meade, C Kenny; H Traynor, N McMahon, N Kearney; S O'Neill (0-2), P Meade; S Kennedy, M McCabe, S Carr; J Lunney (0-2), C McGrath, S O'Rourke (0-5).
