Gaelic Football the Winner in U-14 Games

June 08, 2006
In what has to be the most exciting night in Juvenile Football so far Football came out on top in most cases. In the only Final of the night the Division 6 of the Super Valu League took centre stage at Summerhill with Bective/Cannistown edging out previous unbeaten Ballivor in a rip roar contest and it was only in the last few minutes of the game that it was decided. The Super Valu Football League Division 1 Knock Out Semi Fnals also produced two exciting games and Na Fianna pulled off a minor surprise with nine point win over Round Towers although the Towers who had a player sent off inthe 1st half didn't give up easily and it was only in the latter stages Na Fianna where assured of victory in Trim. The Predicted show down of the night didn't let us down either as Ratoath really put it up to Double Favourites St Martins in Kilbride and the Martins where glad to hear the final whistle as Rathoath piled on the pressure to go under by 3 points the same margin the lost to the Dunshaughlin/Drumree outfit in the 2005 U-13 Final. In the Super Valu Division 2 Knock Out we had two Quarter Finals and here we had just as much excitment as both matches finished in Draws. In Stalmullen St Patricks who a week previous ran out easy Division 3 Football League winners had to rely on a couple of late scores to earn a draw with neighbours St Vincents who must fancy there chances in the replay next Monday with home advantage. Division 4 Table toppers Ballinlough also nearly pulled off another minor shock as home team Dunderry also needed a late point to secure a draw in a high scoring even game and with the North Meath side having home venue next Wednesday they too must be upbeat about a good result. In another Quarter Final Curraha had a big win over Syddan and in a 1st Round game Seneschalstown easily disposed of Drumconrath/Meath Hill and will play Longwood next Wednesday in the outstanding Quarter Final. Division 3 of the Super Valu Knock Out also produced Two outstanding games as Carnross quailified for a rare underage Final as they overcame Clonard and a late scoring burst from Blackhall Gaels saw them get over a resilient Rathkenny outfit in a Quarter Final and Blackhall now meet Moynalty for the right to play Carnaross in the Final Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Navan OMahonys didn't let the higher profile competitions have it all there own way and again football was the winner in this Super Valu Division 4 Knock Out quater Final with Donaghmore eventually winning out and now meet SS Peter/Pauls the next stage of this new competition for Reserve teams only. In what has to be the only dissapointment of the night Simonstown quailified for the final of this competition as a refusal to facilate Ratoath who where involved in the titantic Division 1 Semi Final in Kilbride and therefore recieved a walkover .
