Walterstown captain Cathal Hennelly recieves the Minor League Division 2 Shield from Ultan Fitzpatrick
Walterstown Minors captured the Div. 2 League with a comprehensive win over neighbours Skryne in an entertaining game played in Bellewstown.
Walterstown 3-11
Skryne 2-5
Playing with the aid of a strong breeze in first half the Blacks led 2-6 to 0-2 at half time thanks to goals by David Maguire and Mark McCormack. Walterstown midfielder Conor O'Sullivan retired injured after five minutes forcing the Blacks to reorganise with Stephen O'Keeffe going to midfield where his partnership with Maguire went on to dominate their Skryne opponents.
Skryne fought back well at the start of second half with two goals by Kevin Reilly but a well worked goal by substitute Colm McMahon steadied the Walterstown ship and they ran out comfortable and well deserved winners.
