Ten different players got on the scoresheet as an impressive St Martin's overturned a five points half-time deficit to see off a gallant Navan O'Mahonys in an entertaining Eddie's Hardware Under 14 FC final at Pairc Tailteann on Wednesday evening. St Martin's ... 4-13 O'Mahonys .. 2-13 The Drumree/Dunshaughlin combination were stronger and more economical than their opponents and despite losing key forward Eamon Bowe, through injury, before the break they took full advantage of the strong wind in the second-half to record their first success at this grade since 2001. O'Mahonys, who were well beaten by their superior opponents in the Under 13 FL decider at the tail end of last year put up a great show on this occasion but after shooting 12 first-half wides their title ambitions looked shaky as they only led 1-8 to 1-3 at the break. The Brews Hill outfit were bidding to go one better than twelve months ago when they lost heavily to a crack St Cianan's side with Michael Murphy and Dermot Louth leading the way they had the better of the opening half. Stephen Alexander's goal made it 1-3 to 0-3 after 20 minutes and the though same player put them five points clear shortly after Stephen Clusker responded with a similar score for the eventual winners. Within seven minutes of the restart the sides were level after another top drawer goal, this time from Fergus Toolan and a point from an acute angle from Emmet Staunton. With Conor Devereaux dictating matters at midfield the team in red and black went five points clear but another Alexander point cut the gap to a goal with five minutes remaining.
