JFC C: First win for Castletown

Castletown gained their first brace of points in this years Junior C football championship in  wet conditions in Syddan on Monday evening.

Despite being five points down at the break the eventual winners turned on the style in the second period to take another set of local bragging rights after their A league win against Nobber on Saturday evening.

The opening half tally of 1-8 was contributed to by Declan Cribbin 1-1, Robbie Hoey 0-3 Bernard Gargan 0-2 and one point each from Damien Ginnitty and Ciaran Weldon . Castletown team Paul Smith,  Eoin Reid, Conor Price, 

Castletown closed down the Rathkenny forwards in the second half and limited them to three points to Castletowns 2-6. This could have been a greater advantage with Castletowns dominance in this period but for some wayward shooting. Castletown second half scorers were Tom Mc Keown coming of the bench at halftime to contribute 1-1, Declan Cribbin with 0-3 and one point each for John Donegan and Ciaran Weldon.
