Schools: Kildalkey retain Division 1 crown

Kildalkey's Brian O'Halloran heads for the St Michaels goal during the division 1 hurling final

The pupils of Kildalkey proved too strong for St Michael's, Trim as they retained the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Division 1 hurling title at Loman's Park, Trim on Saturday.

Joint captain Brian O'Halloran led by example in Kildalkey's 21 point success.

The midfielder found the target with the 2-5 for the winners while Cian Colhoun, James Cully, Alex Rickard and Aaron Potterton also got in on the goal scoring act.

St Michael's faced an uphill battle when they trailed by 1-2 to 4-7 at the change of ends.

Lorcan Rogers and George Douglas-Wilkinson raised green flags for the Eoghan Ryan captained outfit.

After the final whistle O'Halloran lifted the cup along with centre-forward Sam Sweeney.
