BFL4: Carnaross caught at the death

July 26, 2016

Paddy Nugent Carnaross

Carnaross 0-10
Meath Hill 2-4

Carnaross were punished for not taking their chances when Meath Hill snatched a share of the points with an equalising goal in the second minute of added time.

The game was a tight affair throughout but Carnaross will feel they had enough chances to ensure victory but were guilty of kicking fourteen wides over the hour. Two points from Paul Donoghue and Niall McDonnell gave Carnaross the early advantage but Meath Hill hit back to edge in front with a goal in the fourth minute. The visitors went on to add two more points to extend their lead to three midway through the half.

However, Carnaross hit back with two converted frees from Paul Donoghue and a Paddy Nugent point from play to level the game. Meath Hill landed the final score of the half to lead 1-3 to 0-5 at the interval.

After the restart Meath Hill had a great goal chance but Conor Kenny pulled off a good save in the Carnaross goal. Meath Hill pointed from a free two minutes in, but this would prove be their final score until the late equalising goal thirty minutes later. Carnaross went on to dominate the second-half with points from Stephen Dawson and Niall McDonnell bringing the sides level. Further points from Dawson, Paul Donoghue and a late Dean Connell free gave Carnaross a three point lead before Meath Hill hit back with the late goal to punish them for all the earlier misses.
