July 25, 2016

Ratoath's Padraig O'Hanrahan

Ratoath 1-18
Gaeil Colmcilles 1-15

Ratoath's Intermediate hurlers held out for a narrow victory on Friday night in this exciting Championship encounter played against Gaeil Colmcille's  in Navan

The game began with both sides cancelling each other out with both sides's free takers tapping over the scores . Towards the end of the half though Michael Cooper's charges began to get on top and a goal just before half time from Gerry O'Donoghue helped his side to a 6 point lead at half time 1-11 to 0-8.

The second half began with the Kells men grabbing the initiative with a goal of their own and were able to rack on consecutive points of their own . The North Meath men not only wiped out the first half deficit but actually went two points in front before eventually Ratoath got their act together. Points from Padraig O'Hanrahan, Gavin McGowan & Sean O'hanrahan would prove the decisive scores although they can consider themselves fortunate to come away with the victory particularly when Gael Colmcilles were left to rue 2 great chances for goals at the end .Nevertheless Ratoath now have 2 wins and a draw so can be fairly satisfied with their performances so far and now look forward to their next game- al League fixture against the same opposition in early August. Best for the winning side were Jack McGowan,Brian Murphy, Bryan McMahon,Ciarán O'Hanrahan and Padraig O'Hanrahan
