FL Div 2: Ratoath go down to Trim

May 25, 2016

Ratotah's Frank Coyne

Ratoath 2-15 Trim 5-10

Ratoath went down to a gallant defeat in this highly entertaining league game played in warm sunny conditions in Sean Eiffe Park.

They started off brightly with points from  Paddy Quinn and Frank Coyne but were soon on the back foot with a goal from the visitors. Despite this Ratoath continued to pile on the points with Jack McGowan  & Niall Donnelly but it seemed every time they got into the ascendancy the Trim men hit back with vital scores including 2 goals before the end of the half. Enda Cosgrove's charges did get in for one of their own when Brian Daly raised a green flag following good work from Colman Connolly but still trailed at half time 3-4 to 1-8

The second half saw the home side again take the initiative with a goal from  Donnelly and a similar pattern emerging with tit-for-tat scores from both sides. Coyne  kept his side in the game with his accuracy from frees but alas 2 more goals from the Trim outfit would prove decisive as they ran out 5 point winners. Best for Ratoath were Shane McMahon, Brian Daly, Niall Donnelly, Jack McGowan and Frank Coyne.
