Div 2 FL: Narrow loss for Castletown

Castletown's competitive year started with this 1 point  defeat away to Walterstown in this A league Div 2 opener played in windy conditions on Sunday morning.

Castletown played against the wind in the first half and went in at the break six points down 9 points to 3. James Finnerty opened the scoring on 9mins and Kevin Ross tagged on 2 points in  the 23rd and 24th minutes.

Walterstown started the second half well and scored 3 points in a row in the first 4 minutes of the half which was there only scores of the half. Barry Smith then came off the bench for Castletown on 38minutes and scored a point with his first involvement for their opening score of the second half.

Then Castletown started to get to grips around the middle and on 15mins Tommy Smith netted with a deft lob over Walterstown keeper John Davis to bring them closer to the home team. Kevin Ross scored a free on 48 mins and then a penalty when Barry Smith in space was given a great pass with the keeper to beat who fouled him inside the parallelogram on 58 mins to leave it 2-5 to 12 pts.

This was the final score with Castletown rueing 5 wides and 2 balls dropped into the keepers hands for them in second half.
